Style Inspiration: Deco Darling

There's no denying that Deco is in BIG for the summer. I was finally able to go see Baz Luhrmann's Great Gatsby earlier this week, and I'd say it quite met my expectations! How can you not be inspired by all that glitz and glam. 

So, in light of this season's desire for all things Jazz I've put together a little outfit with a bit more practical approach for aspiring little deco darlings!

A Sunday Adventure

Hey there! 

Well, this last Sunday Dan and I and Little Chou woke up early and  went on an adventure. Dan finally had day off so why not? We asked Addy where she wanted to go and she said "the forest". Luckilly we live in California, so, wherever she might have said would probably have been within driving distance. 

We decided to head over to Muir Woods, because I too was craving some redwoods (they're seriously addicting).  

But, as luck would have it, Muir Woods on a Sunday is SUPER crowded, so after looking for parking for about 45 minutes we abandoned the redwoods and took off for nearby Muir Beach. It was pretty windy and cold, but we still had fun racing and exploring. Then we headed over to Stinson Beach for some yummy sanwiches at a cute little beach café. We found a darling little playground that had a little play house and we played food counter for the better part of an hour until the little one was quite exhausted.

It was a pretty peaceful drive home along the coast with her passed out in the back seat. When we got home, We all took a nice nap. Then Dan went out for pizza while Chou and I built a fort in the bedroom. we put on "the sword and the stone" one of my favorite movies growing up, and nomed on pizza and popcorn until Mommy got home. then Dan and I went out for some Cinco de Mayo drinks with friends. 

It was a long, fun, exhausting, and wonderful day. I think we'll do it again this Sunday!

Have a Glamorous Summer 2013 with Cauliflower Kids!

We've got a heap of sparkly, shimmery, glamorous and classic looks availiable in the shop now for girls AND BOYS! What?! That's right BOYS! 

All I have to say is: Hooray for Summer!

There you have it! Summer 2013! 

I just die with how cute these two are together! For the shoot we took Chou and mister "R" to a beautiful art garden and basically let them loose to explore and play together. I love all of the little imperfections that come with giving the kids the reins. Scraped knees, untucked shirts, rumpled fabric, puddle stained hemlines and deshevled hair, are all part of the fun of being a kid! No need to fuss, kids are cuter when they're themselves!

Kid Photographer Crush: Karel Balas

Hello people! 

So, Karel Balas has been on my radar for a while now. Lately, I keep seeing more and more of these beautiful photos scattered around Pinterest and the like, and I keep falling madly in love with them, and then I keep finding out that he took them! So, I guess it's fair to say that he is definitely one of my top photographer crushes at the moment! His nature photographs are by far my favorites, I just can't get over the textures and shadows and colors, but really all of his work takes my breath away!

All Tied Up

Hello my lovelies! 

Just thought I'd share some of the packaging details from Cauliflower Kids. I was packaging these up yesterday, and thought I'd snap a picture. 

And, since we're on the subject, I'd like to give credit to a couple of the people who I buy packaging supplies from. they're all amazing small businesses like myself, and it's fun that we get to work together and make things happen. 

Inkkit's packaging details are always compatible with my designs, I used her glitter triangle stickers and wash tape for all of my holiday orders. and now I'm eying some of her new items to compliment my spring line. 

 

I am absolutely in love with Ecoenclose. I recieved a package in one of their envelopes and imediately found them and bought a bunch of my own to ship my orders in. They have mulitiple sticky strips, so they really are actually reusable. genious!

Interior Dreaming: An Etsy Kitchen

Hello lovlies. 

Well as you may know from my previous interior dreaming post, I've been scouring the entire internet for housewares recently as Dan and I are planning a little move in a couple of months. I've decided that I want to do most of my decorating via Etsy, and support an amazing community of small business owners, of which I am a part. Us little guys've got to stick together, you know what I mean? 

Anyway, Here are some awesome items I'll be hoping to fill my kitchen with come move-in. 

These fixtures are the epidome of simple style. Plus I was just gifted some handmade vintage inspired lightbulbs that would look oh so spectacular in these! (these come with a bulb anyway though) 

These little tumblers are uh-mazing. I just can't get enough of these colors. 

I'm kind of freaking out about this shelf you guys. It's just so amazingly simple but wonderful at the same time. It's on the pricier side of our budget, but I think I'll be saving my pennies for a while until I can get it, becasue I need it. I really like shelves you guys. 

These lovely little air plants  are supposedly easy-ish to take care of. I might give it a whack, even though I've killed basically everything I've ever planted. 

These tea towels are so cute I probably won't actually use them for fear of stains..but then again I have a three year old in my house everyday so I hardly have a say in what of mine gets stained. :/

Taking Time to Smell the "Roses"

These days I have to keep reminding myself to slow down a bit and enjoy life for what it is. How easy it is to slip into running around frantically trying to tick off everything on the to-do list, But that's no way to spend the precious time I have with my almost three year old niece, sweet little puppy, and crisp, cool sunny days.

If dishes get left undone, and laundry piles up, so be it. It's time we slowed things down and made time to smell the roses, or in Addy's case, tiny "baby" flowers, cause verything's better if it's baby sized, isn't it? haha! 

 Well, with how busy everything has been lately some days the most peaceful time we have is our afternoon walk to the park. It's the one time of day that I don't feel like we're in a hurry, and it's quickly becoming my favorite part of the day.

So, Dan and I have been working on moving closer to his work, and everyday as we get closer and closer to a new place I can't help but get more and more excited about filling it! As you might have guessed I'm on Etsy a lot dealing with my own shop but these days I can't help but have a wandering eye to see what goodies I can find for our new place.
